Photo Illustrations

I recently completed a photo illustration project for Portland Studios. Chris Koelle and I collaborated to create 8 images on a royalty theme. I took all the photographs and did some post production, and Chris did all the illustration over the top of the images.

In addition to these 8 pieces, Justin Gerard of Portland Studios completed two large digital paintings on the same theme. I felt the project turned out really well. I was pleased with the final prints when they came in. The final images are now framed and in the client’s office. You can see them in place over at the Portland Blog. Additionally, you can catch a glimpse of Justin’s work, which, as usual is stunning.

Here are the pieces we created. All of them were printed at 20×24 inches accept for the last image which was printed at 24×36 inches.

This checker pattern is a close up shot of my son Jude’s shoe.

This shiny fur texture is from the bear sculpture, a classic photo spot, at the Greenville Zoo. If you’ve ever been you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Boys Day

Today was filled with a lot of activities that little boys love. I’ve been working a lot lately, so it was great to hang out with the kids and concentrate a whole day of events for them.

We started with a morning soccer game, Henry’s first! We’ve had practices, and we’ve played a lot at the park, but a game is a different thing. By the second half most of the kids were kicking it in the right direction. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off next week. Our friends Chris and Annie, and there little guy Marshall, joined us and helped cheer Henry on. The weather was perfect, and everyone enjoyed being outside.

Here’s Henry, ready for battle. Not messing around. The truth is, he had a huge smile on his face during the majority of the game as he ran around.

The cheerleading section.

Henry and I have been working on his “Throw-ins.” He had the best throw-ins of anyone on either side.

This moment was after the teams only goal. It was truly a team effort. The whole crowd of four of them all pushed it into the goal simultaneously. Henry pumps fists.

Then it was back home for lunch. At the boys request, we stopped at the Fresh Market to get a Rotisserie Chicken. After lunch we headed to an event in Simpsonville. A client of mine had asked me to come takes some photographs. He had hired a balloon guy and had his old truck and his dog Roc out.

This balloon guy was making balloon creations for six hours straight.

He was quite funny, and Henry really enjoyed his humor.

After he asked if Henry and Jude were brothers, he said he knew exactly what to make them. About ten minutes later. Darth Vader emerged.

Followed by Yoda.

Obviously the boys loved it, and we all had a blast. Thanks for hiring the balloon guy Chuck!

Finally, I would have never know this was in Simpsonville. It’s a pretty impressive outdoor amphitheater. I wonder what sorts of concerts they hold here? I’ll have to look into it.

After a little bit of Wii, and some yummy homemade macaroni and cheese that Mollie made, it was off to the bath and into bed for a story. We were all so tired, we couldn’t even get through our story. We all just passed out. Fun was had by all.

Last week some friends of mine had their first son. They invited me over to take a couple shots of him, so this morning I headed over to their home.

Luke is pretty amazing, and pretty tiny. Check him out.

Should be some good times.

iPhone test

This is a test. I’m trying the new iPhone app that allows me to post from location.

There is a couple shots from a playground we found yesterday. It kind of reminded me of Lost.
